Oregon Summers

The Internal — Private Collection

This is what it looks like now. Not metaphor — the sky above the Willamette Valley turns this color. The air carries weight. The horizon disappears into layers of smoke and heat that no photograph quite captures and no forecast adequately prepares you for.

There is no rebirth here. No flowers pushing through. Just the fire, still going, and the particular orange light that settles over everything when the mountains are burning.

Painted in acrylic with layered atmospheric bands of gold, amber, crimson, and deep magenta, the surface builds the way smoke builds — gradually, until the light changes and you realize you can no longer see what was there before.

This work is held in the artist's private collection and is not available for sale.
