Abandoned Eden

The Internal — Private Collection

After the expulsion, the garden didn't die immediately.

It raged. The colors intensified without anyone left to witness them — yellow and magenta and gold burning across the landscape in horizontal bands, the earth still fertile and furious and completely alone. In the upper left, barely visible, one tree remains. Not the tree. Just a tree. The last witness to something that cannot be returned to.

This is what abandonment looks like when the abandoned thing was paradise.

Painted in oil on gessoed panel with layered horizontal brushwork, the surface carries the energy of something still alive but directionless — color without purpose, beauty without an audience.

This work is held in the artist's private collection and is not available for sale.
